Cadillac’s Lyriq Is Attracting More and More New Buyers, But It’s Taking Tesla’s Previous Buyers As Well

As far as the EV market is concerned, Tesla was, at one point, the most revolutionary and advanced thing on the market, as the brand proved to be both reliable and technically superior to the competition.
Recently, though, things have started to change, and it’s not just due to Musk’s political activities and the customers’ revolt against him – it’s that other brands have caught up with Tesla.
Cadillac’s recent example is there to illustrate this, as the new Lyriq is not only attracting a lot of new buyers, but it’s also taking buyers away from Tesla!
If you’ve been following the numbers related to car sales in recent months, the numbers for the Cadillac Lyriq have been extraordinary. There has been a significant rise in sales, so much, in fact, that we can actually say that the Lyriq is slowly starting to dominate the market.
This is especially noteworthy in light of the fact that these are new buyers. In a recent talk, an executive said that around 80 percent of new Cadillac EV buyers are coming from outside the brand, which is amazing.
On top of that, the numbers are noteworthy in a comparative aspect, as it seems that Cadillac is taking a significant chunk of Tesla’s traditional buyers. Namely, about 10% of those newcomers are switching over from Tesla.
There are probably multiple reasons for this, but politics aside, the Lyriq is a truly amazing car and as far as the basic features are concerned, there is no major difference between Tesla and the Lyriq right now, so if you’re having a beef with Musk or Tesla, yes, the Lyriq does look and sound like a great alternative.
