Ford has produced a series of amazing models over the years, but none of them have made such a pop-cultural impact as the legendary Fox Body Mustang, produced for a total of 14 years from 1979 to 1993.

The model ultimately became the the second-best-selling generation but it also became a symbol of 80s pop culture due to numerous appearances in television shows and on the big screen as well.

And while the classic Fox Body Mustang is now a thing of the past, Ford is reviving the legendary model as part of its 2026 lineup, but – of course – with a lot of modern touches that are set to make this old school classic become a hit in the modern era as well.

It’s not just the popularity of the original model, as you might assume. There has been a resurgence of ’80s nostalgia in recent years (just remember how popular Stranger Things has become) and Ford wanted to go back to that period, but the company also decided to add something new as part of its 2026 FX Package.

The revived model will come in the new Adriatic Blue Metallic paint color, which is inspired by the Teal paint from the ’80s; this color will be available outside the FX Package, alongside another revived color, the Orange Fury Metallic Tricoat.

The model will also have a mid-gloss Oxford White set of 19-inch wheels, with color-matched center caps and a new Mustang GT wordmark font, but if you upgrade to the Performance Pack, you will receive a classic rim design inspired by the Fox Body wheels.

The Performance Pack will also come with Oxford White accents on the grille, matching the white 5.0-liter, GT, and Mustang Pony badges, as well as a retro-style wordmark (inspired by 1987-1993 models) for coupes, while white taillights are available will be available via the Ford Performance Parts catalog.

As for the interior, the Mustang FX Package will give a nod to the ’80s via the popular plaid pattern of the period thanks to special seat inserts, and there will be a special Mustang GT IP badge in FX-specific font on the dashboard. Additional elements include the dual-contrast stitching in City Silver and Adriatic Blue on seats, dash, door panels, steering wheel, and center console.

The pricing hasn’t been revealed yet so we cannot speculate on that, but Ford has confirmed that the orders will open later this month, so we’ll have a clearer picture of that to expect by the end of this month.
