Switch 2 Sales: Japanese Retailers See Larger Gross Margins, Brazilian Retailers Sell Out Pre-Orders

After a long wait, we can finally say that the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out this week. The console has already been delivered to the retailers, who are preparing for one of the biggest launch days when it comes to new consoles.
It is obvious that the launch day availability won’t meet the demand, which is why some buyers have already had their pre-orders cancelled or postponed to July, which is when a new batch of consoles is supposed to arrive.
In light of that, though, these same retailers are experiencing a significant rise in profits according to the information we have from Japan and Brazil.
And while it is impossible to predict whether the Switch 2 will surpass the Switch in the number of consoles sold (the total income will probably be bigger due to the rise in prices), it is certain that the Switch 2 will do great, as the demand is incredibly high.
For example, the information coming from Japan claims that retailers in the country of origin of the Switch 2 are seeing a significant rise in gross margins thanks to Switch 2 pre-sales. The average margin is about 2%, but thanks to the Switch 2, these numbers could go as high as 5%, which is a 150% rise.
Of course, both the retailers and Nintendo are enjoying the benefits of this rise, so it is going to be interesting to see how this will impact future sales and how much money the retailers will earn in the process.
At the same time, reports from Brazil claim that the country’s largest retailers have completely sold their pre-order consoles, which means that the Switch 2 might not be available in the country for a while. And while some retailers around the world have received additional consoles for a day-one sale (i.e., for those who have not pre-ordered the console), it is unclear whether Brazilian retailers will get additional consoles.
Why is this information so relevant? Well, Brazil is traditionally not considered a big market when it comes to Nintendo’s consoles and products, so such an increased interest is definitely a fact that needed to be shared with you.
As said, we don’t know the final numbers, but it seems that the Switch 2 is heading towards major success!
