Dataminers Tease a Possible Multiplayer Mode for ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’
Assassin’s Creed Shadows was released in March and the game, despite all the issues, ended up being a hit around the world. As you know, the game had been postponed, criticized for its characters and some in-game elements, but it ultimately managed to beat the hate and become a hit.
And while the hype surrounding the game has calmed down, the game is still popular and it has millions of players around the world, so this piece of information might make them happy.
Namely, based on the information revealed on social media, dataminers have discovered some files that might point to the game getting a very interesting feature.
You remember last year’s rumors that Assassin’s Creed Shadows would be getting a multiplayer and/or co-op mode at one point? Well, this hasn’t been officially confirmed by Ubisoft in any way, and we did not get it on launch, but it seems that the rumors were not completely false:
As you can see, the data found by dataminers confirms that there are files that are related to the multiplayer option, which is definitely a good sign. This means that, at one point, the developers were working on that mode.
Now, as far as the future is concerned, it doesn’t seem we’ll be getting it soon. There haven’t, as it seems, been any major developments in that field, so it is quite possible that Ubisoft has given up on it and that these files just remained there, but won’t be of any use in the future.
On the other hand, the mode was, according to the original rumors, announced as a post-launch feature, so we could still see it; the existence of these files is, thus, a good thing.
As said, this is just a fact, and we won’t yet know what it means or if it actually means anything, but it definitely gives us something to hope for.
