‘Cookie Clicker’ Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch and Other Consoles in Late May
Have you ever heard of the term “incremental game”? Incremental games, also known as idle games, are games that require minimal player interaction, hence the title. You usually just need to click (or perform another simple action) and gain in-game currency to further automate the whole game.
These games are a niche genre, as you might have guessed, but some of them manage to make it into the mainstream, and one of them is the 2013 game Cookie Clicker.
After its initial 2013 release, the game was ported to Android devices in 2020 and to Steam in 2021. Now, later this month, other consoles will be getting the game!
As you know, Cookie Clicker is a game in which you have to click on a large cookie to progress. And that’s about it. There’s nothing else to do. Still, the game has been a major hit and has been described as both great and addictive.
The game was initially released in 2013, and it later received an Android port and Sa team port, but now it’s time for the game to appear on consoles! Before we reveal more, take a look at this:
Orteil is actually Julien Thiennot, the creator of the game, so when he reveals something like this, it can be taken as official. But, on top of that, we’ve gotten a trailer as well:
The trailer confirms that the console edition of the game is going to come out on May 22, 2025, and we can confirm that the consoles in question are the PlayStation 4 and 5, the Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 (although the latter is coming out later, when the console itself arrives).
Good luck avoiding getting addicted!
