Small and Indie Devs Are Struggling to Get Switch 2 Dev Kits
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been introduced officially and we know all we need to know. June will see the console officially launched, with two major in-house launch titles, as well as some interesting upgrades for old games.
And while the consumers are very much excited about what is coming, there are those who have some issues with Nintendo. And no, we’re not talking about the angry fans who complain about the prices and other stuff.
Namely, as it has been revealed recently, smaller and indie third-party developers are having issues with Nintendo as they are unable to get their hands on the Switch 2 dev kit at this time.
With the Switch 2 coming out soon, it is a fact that everyone wants to make good use of that fact, including the devs. And while Nintendo holds the keys for its in-house released, third-party devs seem to be having some issues. At least some of them.
Namely, the big third-party devs probably won’t have too many problems with getting their hands on the dev kits, but smaller and indie devs are having trouble getting the kits from Nintendo, which will certainly limit their ability to launch titles around the tame of the Switch’s release.
“New console audiences are often willing to try new things at the start, so we were desperate to get our hands on dev kits early,” one such developer said. “Nintendo has finally responded to us, but we still don’t think we’ll get anything for a few months.”
Of course, these developers needn’t worry about the future, as Nintendo will make the dev kits available, but it seems that they won’t be able to make much use of the console’s launch. Hopefully things improve soon!
