The 2019 movie Ford v Ferrari was a major hit that was nominated for numerous accolades. The 2013 movie Rush was a major hit as well and was lauded by the critics when it was released. And there are more such examples. But, examples of what?

Well, movies about racing duels are popular, and in this report, we are actually going to talk about a real racing duel that was recently held.

Namely, Edmunds decided to arrange a duel between the Ford Mustang Dark Horse and the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing to determine the best out of two in a U-drag race, and the results are clear.

Before we get to the race specifics, here are some details on the cars in question. Both cars are among the best performance cars that can be found on the market today; there are some cosmetic differences, but in many ways, they are both great and reliable, which is why this race was organized.

The specifics are as follows:

The most important numbers you need to consider are the 5.0-liter V8 engine with 500 horsepower that is inside the Ford, and the twin-turbo V6 engine producing 472 horses that is inside the Cadillac. Everything else? The difference is not that big, as you can see in the table.

So, what happened? Edmunds organized two races in which the cars had to sprint down the quarter-mile, do a high-speed U-turn, and then rush back to the start/finish line to determine the winner. Two races were held to account for the drivers’ capabilities – after the first race, the drivers would change cars and repeat the race to make it as objective as possible.

And while these races can get exciting, the winner was clear in this one. In both races, the Ford Mustang won. The Caddy had an initial lead, but the Ford quickly caught up with it and in both cases, it did the U-turn much faster and ruched back to the line; the Caddy was simply unable to catch up to it.
