2026 Nissan Leaf to Offer Over 300 Miles of Driving Range

The 2026 Nissan Leaf is getting a big upgrade. Nissan says the new Leaf will be able to drive over 300 miles on a full charge. This is a big improvement from the current model, which goes only 149 miles in its base version and 212 miles in the SV Plus version.
Nissan’s planning officer, Ponz Pandikuthira, shared this news at the New York auto show. He said the range will depend on the version of the car. The longer range will likely come with a bigger, optional battery pack.
The Leaf will now have a new design. It will look more like a small SUV, but it will not come with all-wheel drive. Instead, it will stay front-wheel drive with a single electric motor. This is different from Nissan’s other EV, the Ariya, which has an all-wheel-drive option.
The new Leaf will also charge faster. It will use the NACS charging port, which means it can use Tesla’s Supercharger network. That’s great news for people who want more charging options.
Nissan is trying to keep the new Leaf affordable. The current model starts under $30,000, making it the cheapest electric car in the U.S. The new model will cost more, but it will still be cheaper than the Ariya, which starts at over $41,000.
The 2026 Leaf is expected to arrive later this year. We will get more details about the price and features soon. This big jump in range makes the Leaf more competitive with other electric cars, like the Chevrolet Equinox EV and Hyundai Ioniq 6.
