The Battery-Powered Toyota C-HR is Coming to North America in 2026

As Japan’s biggest auto company, Toyota is expected not to follow, but to lead, and the company has been a leading pioneer of innovation in recent years. That is why Toyota’s cars are a global phenomenon and are popular all around the globe.

Recently, we’ve reported on several new models and upgrades to Toyota’s old models, and this report will be about a new addition, although solely for the North American market. But don’t worry, Europe, this model is already available there.

So, we can confirm that the battery-powered Toyota C-HR is finally coming to North America in 2026, and we have the details.

As you probably know, the Toyota C-HR has been available in Europe since 2023, and a new battery-powered model was announced earlier this year under the name Toyota C-HR+. And while the C-HR has been exclusive to Europe until recently, it is also coming to North America sometime in 2026.

So, what is the C-HR model bringing with it for North American users? Built on the e-TNGA platform, it uses a 74.7 kWh battery pack and comes standard with a dual electric motor all-wheel-drive system; in case you’re interested in more figures, this means a standard power figure of 338 hp and a 0-60 mph time of under five seconds. The range, as stipulated, should be around 290 miles.

As for the changes, the suspension components will be reworked, as Toyota has specifically mentioned the anti-roll bar and some damper tuning, although we still have to wait a bit for the details.

Also, and that was expected, the models will have North American Charging System ports, so they will be able to access Tesla’s Supercharge network, and will allow for a 10%–80% DC fast charge in about 30 minutes.

Among the other features mentioned are a battery preconditioning function as well as steering wheel paddles for controlling the level of regenerative braking.

The initial release will have two trims. The SE trim will have a 14-inch infotainment display, standard heated front seats and steering wheel, plus an 8-way power SofTex-trimmed driver seat. Two wireless charging pads and three USB-C ports are also standard issue on the SE. XSE trim buyers level up with 20-inch wheels, faux suede-trimmed seats, driver seat memory technology, and a digital rearview mirror.

As for the price, we it is expected that the car will be priced around $42,000, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. The model is set to arrive sometime in 2026, but a precise release window has not been confirmed.
