Toyota Reveals the 2026 Corolla FX Edition Hatchback

Toyota is adding a fresh twist to the Corolla lineup with the new 2026 Corolla FX Edition hatchback. Inspired by the classic 1987 Corolla FX16, this special edition brings a retro feel to the popular compact car.
Following the 2025 Corolla FX sedan, this hatchback edition packs more style while keeping the reliable performance Corolla fans expect.
The Corolla FX Edition hatchback stands out with its sporty looks. One of the most noticeable features is the black rear wing, which Toyota says helps with aerodynamics. There’s also a retro badge on the rear hatch that reads “Corolla Special Edition” in a nostalgic font, paying homage to the FX16.
The car comes with 18-inch white alloy wheels, giving it a striking appearance, especially when paired with the vibrant Inferno orange paint. Other color options include Ice Cap white and Blue Crush Metallic.
Inside, the Corolla FX Edition hatchback boasts a sporty atmosphere. The black “Sport Touring” seats have suede inserts and orange stitching, which also appears on the door panels, steering wheel, and gear shifter.
The interior offers a modern touch with a 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster, a wireless phone charger, and safety features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beams. Unlike the FX sedan from 2025, the hatchback keeps the familiar 8.0-inch touchscreen instead of upgrading to a larger display.
Under the hood, the FX Edition hatchback keeps the same 2.0-liter inline-four engine as the standard Corolla hatchback, producing 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. While it doesn’t get any extra power compared to the regular model, it’s significantly stronger than the 108-hp engine in the original FX16 from 1987.
Toyota plans to produce only 1,600 units of the 2026 Corolla FX Edition hatchback for the U.S. market. The car is expected to arrive at Toyota dealerships in the fall. Pricing details for the entire 2026 Corolla lineup will be revealed later this year, but experts expect the FX Edition to cost around $2,000 more than the SE trim.
Mark your calendar if you’re a fan of retro style and reliable performance—this special edition Corolla hatchback might be worth the wait.
