With the Nintendo Switch 2 launching in less than a month alongside Mario Kart World, expectations are high among the fans. The console will probably be the biggest gaming event of the year, which explains the hype.

But, we live in a very strange world at times and not everyone is excited about the upcoming console. That is why Nintendo is being both attacked and criticized, and we are now reporting on another such incident.

As you might be aware, we’ve had our fair share of AI-related controversies in the world of gaming recently, and now it’s time for Nintendo’s turn to respond to accusations that AI has been used in the development of a game.

Before we continue, here is the video that caused the issue:

The gameplay video in general is fine, but some observers noted that some images in the background were made by AI, although this was made purely based on observing the images in the video. The dubious images are:

These images are allegedly created by AI, according to the observers, although Nintendo has been clear in denying that. “AI-generated images were not used in the development of Mario Kart World,” the company revealed through a spokesperson.

These images don’t seem overly suspicious to us, but if we’re being honest, the game is probably not 100% completed at this point, so it is possible that we’re just seeing placeholder images, which is normal during the game development process.

Be that as it may, it seems that Nintendo is avoiding using AI in its games, which is a great thing and we hope it’ll stay that way in the future.
