Released in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt Red started off horribly, but found its way back to become one of the best games in recent years. The game has been praised and popular for several years now, showing that dedicated work can overcome even a practically catastrophic debut.

The game has been doing well, and later this year, it will be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2. The game’s filesize has been revealed, and many players were shocked by the size of the game, as it is going to appear on the game card.

The decision to include the whole game (64 GB) on the game card raised some eyebrows, but CD Projekt Red claims that it was a good decision.

In a recent interview, Jan Rosner, VP of business development at Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red, talked about the game and the upcoming Switch 2 release.

As said, the game’s install size will be 64GB, so the Ultimate Edition of the game will take a large chunk of the Switch’s internal memory. There was the possibility to put the game on a game-key card, meaning that only part of the game would be on the card, while the other would need to be downloaded, but the company has opted for the game card.

This means that the game card will contain all 64GB of the game, and you won’t need to download anything to play the game; the updates and patches are, of course, a different thing.

The decision raised some eyebrows, but the company believes that its decision was right. “Nintendo at physical retail is still strong, and retail is, in general, not going anywhere. I don’t think we’ll soon experience a reality where we’re just having all games digital,” Rosner said.

“But again, it’s especially important for the Nintendo audience. We maybe could have got away with it, but is there a point? The right thing to do was to have it out on the cartridge with a plug and play experience. Do not underestimate the physical edition. It’s not going anywhere and Nintendo players are very appreciative of physical editions that are done right,” he added.
