New Rumor Claims ‘Half-Life 3’ Is Coming, But There’s a Catch

Half-Life has consistently been praised as one of the best and most influential FPS franchises of all time. The games have become cult classics, and despite the fact that the franchise is more or less dormant right now, the interest is still there.

Half-Life 2 is the most recent mainline game that has been released, and while a sequel has been a hot topic for years now, no official announcements have been made relating to a potential third mainline game.

But, a new rumor is out and the rumor claims that a third game will be made, but there is a catch there. What catch? Keep reading to find out!

So, according to the rumor, Half-Life 3 is going to come out. We don’t know when or under what circumstances, but the almost mythical third mainline game will be made. Don’t ask us for additional details, as we – sadly – don’t have any.

And while the fact that a third game could be made is great, there is a catch. Namely, that same rumor claims that the game is being envisioned as the final game in the franchise and that it will, as it seems, close the story of the Half-Life franchise.

Seeing how long we’ve been waiting, a conclusion seems like a natural thing to do. The developers do owe us one more game, and seeing how the wait is overly long, it makes sense that the game they will give us, seemingly, will also conclude the story.

Had there been more coherent ideas, we probably would’ve either gotten the game sooner or gotten more games along the way, even in the form of those expansion packs, a lof of which have been canceled in the meantime.

This rumor comes from Daniel Ricthman, who shared it via his Patreon account. And while Richtman has a solid track record, take this rumor – as any other – with a grain of salt until we get some official information.
