Despite all the changes and issues surrounding Trump’s EV-related policies, the federal EV tax credit is still standing, and that is a very good thing for both EV fans as well as those who care for the environment.

And while the future remains uncertain, we have some good news at this moment as a new list of eligible vehicles has been released starting on May 1, 2025, and there is a very interesting addition there! Or, to be more precise, a major comeback!

Namely, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is once again back on the list, which will certainly make a lot of prospective buyers happy!

The new updated list has been released on May 1, 2025, and after being notoriously absent from the previous list, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is finally back, which is absolutely great news.

This means that all those who are buying a new IONIQ 5 will be able to get $7,500 back, which is a solid amount of money. This policy has been fueling America’s EV market in recent years, with Trump’s statements causing chaos recently, but the credit is alive and well at the moment, and we hope it will stay like that as long as possible.

This isn’t just for buyers; it is an incentive for lease customers as well, although the conditions of using it are a bit different. Just remember that you are eligible as long as you earn less than $300,000 as a married couple filing jointly, less than $225,000 as a head of household, or less than $150,000 as an individual.

In practice, with the tax credit, you could buy a new 2025 IONIQ 5 for somewhere in between $36,575 and $49,475, which is well under the $80,000 Federal MSRP cap.
