Dune: Awakening Draws Nearly 100,000 Players on Steam Before Full Release

Even though Dune: Awakening hasn’t fully launched yet, it’s already pulling in a huge crowd on Steam. On June 5, the game reached almost 100,000 people playing at the same time. To be exact, Steam’s official numbers say 93,634 players were in the game at once.
That’s pretty big, especially when you realize this was only during the early access period. The game isn’t fully available yet. Right now, only people who bought the Deluxe Edition for $69.99 or the Ultimate Edition for $89.99 can play. Everyone else has to wait until June 10, when the full release happens.
This early success shows just how much hype there is around the game. Sure, the number of concurrent players isn’t the only way to tell how well a game is doing, but it does say a lot, especially when it hasn’t launched completely yet. Keep in mind, these numbers are just for Steam. The game isn’t out on consoles like PS5 or Xbox Series X|S yet, but those versions are on the way.
Weekends are usually when the biggest player numbers show up, so it’s possible Dune: Awakening could beat that record again before June 10 rolls around. Right now, it’s sitting at number 195 on Steam’s all-time highest concurrent player list. Not bad at all for a game that’s still in early access.
