Chinese carmaker BYD is bringing its luxury brand Denza to Europe, starting with the sleek new Z9GT. Denza, first launched in 2010 as a joint venture with Mercedes-Benz, is now fully owned by BYD. Since 2021, the brand has been redesigned, led by Wolfgang Egger, a former designer at Audi and Lamborghini.

The Z9GT is packed with high-tech features. It runs on Denza’s e3 Platform and includes a special rear-wheel steering system. This lets the back wheels move separately, helping the car “crab walk” sideways up to 15 degrees. BYD says this helps with parking and tight turns.

The car’s Vehicle Motion Control can handle braking, steering, and suspension—even during emergencies. “It can adjust the torque of the unaffected tyres, redistributing the power at speeds of over 110 mph,” BYD’s Li explained.

The Z9GT uses a Cell-to-Body design with BYD’s Blade Battery, giving the car a flat floor and more space inside. The interior includes leather seats, wooden trim, and colorful lighting. The front seats come with heating, massage, and active side bolsters for better support.

Tech lovers will enjoy a 17.3-inch center screen and two extra 13.2-inch screens for the passenger. There’s also a mini fridge, a huge glass roof, and a 20-speaker Devialet sound system.

Buyers can choose a fully electric version—launching in November—or a hybrid with a 2.0L engine arriving in February 2026. The electric Z9GT can go 0–60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. The hybrid follows close behind at 3.6 seconds.

BYD hasn’t shared pricing yet. As for bringing Denza to the U.S.? Li says, “We don’t have any plans to launch any consumer car in the US.
