Nintendo Switch 2 Introduces Built-In Game Chat with New ‘C’ Button

Nintendo has unveiled a significant new feature for its upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch 2. The previously mysterious ‘C’ button on the right Joy-Con controller has been revealed to activate a built-in communication system called Game Chat.
Game Chat allows players to communicate with friends and family directly while gaming. The Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with an integrated microphone, enabling voice chat without the need for additional accessories. This feature functions in both docked and handheld modes, providing flexibility for various gaming setups.
Beyond voice communication, Game Chat offers screen-sharing capabilities. Players can share their game screens with friends, adjust the display size, or expand another friend’s screen for a more collaborative gaming experience. The ‘C’ button also provides quick access to the chat menu, allowing users to mute themselves and manage other settings effortlessly.
An additional accessory, the Nintendo Switch camera, can be positioned next to the TV. This setup enables players to see their friends on-screen or within character squares in supported games, enhancing the social aspect of gaming.
Game Chat will be free to use until March 31, 2026. After this period, access will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
The introduction of the ‘C’ button and Game Chat marks a significant advancement in Nintendo’s approach to online gaming, offering a more integrated and user-friendly communication platform for players worldwide.
