Mercedes-AMG has revealed a new version of its E53 model, and this time it comes in a wagon body. The 2026 Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid wagon is a mix of speed, power, and everyday usefulness. It combines a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine with an electric motor and a large 21-kWh battery. Together, they make driving exciting and fast.

This plug-in hybrid setup gives the car a total of 577 horsepower during normal driving. But if you use the special “Race Start” mode, the power jumps up to 604 horsepower. That boost helps the wagon go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The power goes to all four wheels, which helps with control and traction.

The electric motor by itself can make 161 horsepower. It is built into the nine-speed transmission. A 400-volt battery sits under the rear of the car. This setup is similar to the E53 sedan version that was released earlier.

While Mercedes hasn’t said how far the wagon can go on electricity alone, the sedan offers about 42 miles of electric range, so the wagon might be close to that.

There is also a special package called AMG Dynamic Plus. This adds the extra 27 horsepower for Race Start mode and raises the top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph.

The package also includes stronger brakes, a rear limited-slip differential that adjusts electronically, and active engine mounts. Inside the car, this package gives you a sporty steering wheel made of nappa leather and microfiber.

The E53 wagon comes with rear-wheel steering and adjustable dampers to improve how it handles. On the outside, you can choose from 12 different paint colors, and if you want, you can add a carbon-fiber trim package.

The standard wheels are 20-inch five-spoke designs, but buyers can also pick 10-spoke 20-inch wheels or larger 21-inch ones.

Inside, the cabin is both stylish and high-tech. You can choose from a variety of leather and microfiber seat materials. A 17-speaker Burmester sound system is included as standard. There’s also an optional feature called the Superscreen, which adds a display screen for the front passenger.

Mercedes is also offering a special “Edition 1” version for 2026. This model includes Manufaktur Alpine Grey paint, AMG graphics, 21-inch wheels, and exclusive interior touches.

The price for the E53 wagon hasn’t been shared yet, but since the E53 sedan starts at $89,150 and the regular E-class wagon usually costs about $5,000 more than its sedan version, the E53 wagon will likely start somewhere around $94,000 to $95,000.

With its mix of performance and everyday practicality, the new E53 wagon looks like a great option for drivers who want both speed and space.
