‘World War Z VR’ Is Coming to SteamVR and Meta Quest in August, Trailer Confirms

Based on the 2006 novel, World War Z became a major cinematic hit in 2013, and in 2019, a third-person shooter video game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, later being ported to other consoles.

Now, in 2025, World War Z is going to get another game, as the Saber Interactive release is coming to a new set of platforms.

It has been confirmed that World War Z is going to get a VR release this August, and we have all the details about the upcoming release.

The game, which is going to be titled World War Z VR, is going to be released on August 12, 2025, on Meta Quest and SteamVR, and it will be available for pre-order today on the Meta Store and Steam for $19.99. All pre-orders come with the Golden Skin Pack, featuring four exclusive gold weapon skins.

As for the game itself, this zombie shooter will provide the players with a very realistic VR experience, and the key features confirmed by the developers are:

Battle Hordes of Zombies in VR: Endure overwhelming swarms of more than 200 zombies on screen at a time in the ultimate VR zombie experience!
Explore Immersive Environments: Navigate massive levels with total immersion across three real-world locations overrun by the undead – New York, Tokyo and Marseille.
7 Playable Characters: Select your operative and dive into each mission with your pre-selected AI squad. Equip a wide variety of weapons and perks to give yourself the edge over the most gruesome firefights.
Survive Epic Challenges: Zombies will adapt to their surroundings and your playstyle to hunt you down, while special infected enemies raise the stakes even higher. Choose from three difficulty modes and overcome all odds to live to fight another day!

As said, the game is available for pre-order, and there’s a benefit for Steam buyers, as they can also pre-order a special bundle that includes both the new World War Z VR and the original World War Z, featuring a 20% discount.
