The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out soon and if we’re being honest, expectations are high and the hype is real. Nintendo fans cannot wait to get their hands on the console and the new games, and there is a good chance that this release will be the gaming event of the year.

But the hype is not just among Nintendo fans, as fans of other consoles are also hyped, and so are people who’ve dedicated their lives to other consoles. Among them is Shuhei Yoshida.

As you know, Yoshida is the former boss of PlayStation, and in a recent interview, he revealed that he is excited about one exclusive in particular.

And while Yoshida’s name is usually associated with Sony, as he oversaw some major releases in recent years, he does not shy away from talking about the gaming industry in general, and recently, he has spoken about the upcoming Switch 2.

Yoshida revealed that he was actually very optimistic about the future of gaming, and he named the Switch 2 as an example of why he is so optimistic.

“The recent presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2, for example, showed this: with its mix of portable and docked video games, and its technological capabilities approaching those of the latest consoles, the possibilities are vast. I hope, however, that they will continue to focus on creating new experiences, and not lose their identity,” Yoshida sa.d

“I followed the live stream at MinnMax and found, like everyone else, that the Switch 2 was mostly an improved Switch, so the innovation wasn’t totally in that area. Let’s hope they don’t just make their games “better”, but really continue to innovate. In the meantime, the console will also allow you to play several important games like Elden Ring or Hogwarts Legacy, and that’s a good thing,” he added.

He was then asked whether he was excited about any game in particular, referring to a Switch 2 exclusive, and contrary to what you might have thought, he did not name any major brand name like Mario or Donkey Kong.

“I’m very intrigued by The Duskbloods. I’m curious to see what FromSoftware will do with a Switch exclusive on a technical level, and it’s always interesting to see what they come up with, especially after Elden Ring,” he said.

The Duskbloods will be an action RPG. It is currently set for a 2026 release, so we’ll have to wait a bit, but everything we’ve seen points to the game being great, which you can confirm in the trailer:
