‘The Electric State: Kid Cosmo’ Prequel Game to Follow Film’s Release on Netflix

A prequel game based on The Electric State, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, will be released shortly after the film debuts on Netflix on March 14. The game, called The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, is a mobile puzzle adventure that offers a deeper look at the characters Michelle and Chris, the siblings at the center of the story.
The game is described as a “bite-sized adventure puzzle game” and focuses on Michelle’s journey with her younger brother before the events of the movie. It spans five years, blending gameplay with emotional storytelling. Kid Cosmo will be available for free on iOS and Android starting March 18, but only for Netflix subscribers.
The movie The Electric State is set in an alternate version of the 1990s, following Michelle, an orphaned teenager played by Millie Bobby Brown. She travels across the American West with a robot named Cosmo, smuggler Keats (Chris Pratt), and Keats’ robot sidekick Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie) to find her brother, Chris. The game will dive into the relationship between Michelle and Chris, expanding on what’s shown in the film.
The Russos worked with their media company, AGBO, to help develop the game, building on an already established concept. Anthony Russo said, ‘We have an amazing team here at AGBO that is very tuned in to gaming, and they sort of played lead on the development of the game.’
When asked if the game’s prequel storyline is tied to the film’s plot, Anthony Russo explained, ‘It does expand upon the relationship that the lead characters have in the movie, Michelle and her brother Chris. So it does get into a part of their relationship that we don’t follow in the film, that kind of predates the film, but also post-dates the film as well.’
While there are no planned updates or additional content for the game yet, the Russos remain open to expanding the game’s story. Anthony Russo mentioned, ‘We love an evolving narrative with gaming…we are exploring many new ways of bringing the experience of “The Electric State” to audiences and gamers.’
