Peugeot Is Reviving Its Legendary GTi Trim with the New Electric Peugeot E-208 GTi

Peugeot is one of France’s leading auto companies and it is a global brand with many famous models. Among the company’s most popular concepts was the GTi trim, which was enormously popular with those who wanted faster models of Peugeot’s standard vehicles.
The GTi line was as popular as Volkswagen’s GTI line, but in 2021, Peugeot suddenly stopped making new GTi models after the release of the 308 GTi; in fact, the only performance model after that was the 508 PSE, which came out last year.
But that’s over now. Peugeot is reviving its famous GTi line and we are happy to confirm that the electric E-208 GTi is coming!
So, yeah, the E-208 is getting a GTi version, which is somewhat of a surprise, but a very pleasant one. We can confirm that the new GTi is inspired by the popular E-205 model, and will have the same FWD powertrain as the Alfa Junior Veloce and Abarth 600e, i.e., 278bhp and 254lb/ft of torque, which will allow users to reach 62mph in 5.7 seconds, with an alleged range of 217 miles from its 54kWh battery.
As you can see on the video from our colleagues, the car looks quite stunning and we are quite overjoyed that Peugeot decided to revive the GTi trim in such a way.
Among the other new elements are a limited slip diff and sports suspension to the GTi, a reduced ride height by 30mm, and a widened track front and back, all so that it can look and feel more sporty. The car will also have bigger wheel arches, a set of unique 18″ alloys inspired by the 205 GTi’s pepperpot design, Performance seats with GTi branding, and, as you can see, the dominant color is going to be – red!
