Toyota Is Reportedly Working on a New Harrier, Sparking Venza Return Talks

As Japan’s biggest auto company, Toyota is naturally always keen on providing innovation for its loyal customers, as well as to attract new ones in the future, which makes sense from a business-wise standpoint.
And we can agree that Toyota has been a pioneering company in many ways throughout the decades, which is why we have decided to report on the company’s future.
Namely, a report has been released that Toyota is working on a new Harrier model in Japn, and that has sparked some interesting discussions online, all of which will be covered in this article.
You probably remember how the new version of the RAV4 became a solid hit, but it seems that Toyota is not going to let the new RAV4 be the only new SUC, as there are some talks about the company’s famous Venza line being revived.
As you probably know, the most recent generation of the Venza came out in 2020 in the United States; the whole line, in case you don’t know, is essentially a remake of Japan’s fourth-gen Harrier. And while Toyota abandoned the Venza in North America in 2024 (replacing it with the Crown Signia), the original Harrier received updates for its 2025 line, which means that the concept has not been abandoned yet.
A new report from Japan claims that the company is actually working on a new Harrier, which means that the Venza could be coming back to the States.
Of course, since this is not official news, we can only speculate from the information we have, but it seems that the new Harrier will be much sleeker and based on the information, it could abandon the RAV4’s “boxy” design for something new. In fact, the report even suggests that we might be dealing with a coupe-SUV model, which would be amazing.
Aside from a visual overhaul and a more premium interior, we can expect the new model to retain the previously used TNGA-K platform, as well as to be based on a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.
The car was initially supposed to be released in 2026, but due to various factors, the release has been pushed back to 2027. We don’t know if this means that the Venza is, indeed, returning, but we can look forward to a new SUV by Toyota.
