Neil Druckmann Expands on His ‘The Last of Us Part III’ Comment: “One project at a time.”
The Last of Us Part II came out in 2020, and it was a groundbreaking title. Not only was it a satisfactory sequel but, it also added a lot of depth and emotion to the whole lore, which is why it was such a masterpiece. Of course, this is also why fans have been calling for a sequel since then.
In the meantime, the franchise received a TV series adaptation from HBO, and while there has been speculation about a third game being worked on, director Neil Druckmann recently lowered our hopes for a third game, but he recently elaborated on that with a more optimistic comment.
When asked about a third game, Druckmann said that we shouldn’t “bet on it” at this moment, which was a pretty grim comment that had a lot of fans worried. In response to that, the director recently explained the situation and gave it a more positive outlook:
This seems to imply that Druckmann is not ruling out a third game but that he is just not focused on that. He has two projects lined up at the moment, and based on what he said, it is unlikely that he will begin any work on The Last of Us before that.
At this moment, this is as official as we can get, but keep following us for more updates related to the franchise as a whole.
