As we have written in several of our articles, the current market is very volatile when it comes to cars. And while the biggest problem is coming from the U.S., the impact of the volatility is global.

In light of that, some “smaller” (in relative terms) companies have a lot to worry about when the future is concerned, and the popular Japanese manufacturer Mazda is one such company.

Mazda is behind Toyota when it comes to Japanese cars and the two companies have long been rivals, but that might change in the near future for the mutual benefit of both companies.

As said, Mazda and Toyota had been bitter rivals at one point, but with Toyota’s growth in recent decades, Mazda fell behind. The old rivalry faded and now the two companies are jointly operating a production factory in Huntsville, Alabama.

In a recent inerview, Mazda’s CEO revealed that the joint factory in Alabama is still not at full capacity, with work being done in two shifts and producing about 100,000 vehicles, with the companies aiming to increase the production to $150,000.

But, that’s not all! Namely, with Toyota leading the market when it comes to Japanese companies, Mazda wants to make good use of the collaboration, and it seems that the joint factory is just the beginning.

“Our collaboration is broader than you might think of it. We are doing it because of global competition. In the era of electrification and of software-defined vehicles, we have to go after too many things at the same time,” Mazda CEO Masahiro Moro said. “We are moving from an automotive industry into a mobility industry. Thatโ€™s a game change and you have to help each other to save your resources.”

So, as you an see, Mazda found a lifeline for the market’s volatility in a collaboration with Toyota and that partnership could end up being a great thing for everyone.
