Volkswagen Teases the New All-Electric GTI: “It is mind-blowing.”
Volkswagen has been one of the most trustworthy brands when it comes to your “classic” urban cars, and there is no doubt that the German brand generally delivers a product worth buying. Now, with all the changes, they are planning to take things even further.
Namely, one of the company’s most popular brands, the Volkswagen Golf GTI, is getting an all-electric model, and the company is quite excited about the launch of this model, as per the information we have.
VW CEO Thomas Schรคfer recently talked to the media about the company’s plan,s and we wanted to share his excitement with you in this report.
Smaller and urban cars have, in recent years, benefited significantly from electrification and it seems that the people at Volkswagen have decided to exploit that fact with a brilliant new electric version of the ID GTI concept – which will be the variant of the ID 2 supermini – slated for a 2026 release.
But that’s not all, according to Schรคfer, who teased a powerful version of the electric ninth-generation Golf before the end of the decade, claiming that these two models will ย “start a whole group of GTI” cars that will completely change the company’s electric roster.

“First of all: can you make an electric Golf exciting? Absolutely. We have driven a few prototypes that we have built on the new set-up, and it is mind-blowing,” Schรคfer said, confirming that the development of these models is well under way and that they will maintain the features of the classic GTI with the new models.
He also teased that the new GTI would be a “monster car,” which is surely going to bring a smile on the faces of many loyal owners. No specifics have been revealed at this point, but it is clear that Volkswagen is working on its all-electric roster, and we hope that this enthusiasm will prove to have been justified.
