Ubisoft Is Developing a New Turn-Based Tactics Game Set in the Same Universe as ‘Rainbow Six Siege,’ According to Rumor
Despite being one of the most notable gaming studios of all time, Ubisoft has been faced with a lot of criticism in recent years due to various reasons. The studio is currently undergoing a sort of restructuring following the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but it seems that they are not halting the game development process at this point.
And while we don’t know too many details at this point, it seems that Ubisoft is working on a new game set in one of its more important gaming IPs.
As per the information we have, Ubisoft is developing a new game set in the universe of Rainbow Six Siege, but a game that will be significantly different from the ones we’ve seen so far.
So, as per the rumor, the game will be a turn-based strategy game, which is something different than what Siege players are generally used to. It will still involve a lot of tactical decision-making, but it will be utilized in a different manner.
The game is still a couple of years away, according to the source, but it will supposedly be released on next-gen consoles, including the Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, PC, and possibly even the Nintendo Switch 2.
Other known details include a top-down view camera similar to games like Diablo 4, or, as the source claims, we should “just watch some XCOM gameplay if you want to get an idea, I’d say it’s an updated version of that with cinematic cutscenes and so on.”
The playing time would be around 25-30 hours, depending on the player, and despite the differences, it is said that the game will still have a Rainbow Six Siege feel, which – if true – will be great.
Whether this was the major “March reveal” that Ubisoft teased we don’t know, but this is as close to that as we have gotten so far.
