Take-Two Boss Believes ‘GTA VI’ Will be the Biggest Thing in the History of the Entertainment Industry as a Whole

GTA VI has been delayed to 2026. The game was initially supposed to be released in late 2025, but it was delayed to early 2026 in order for the developers to brush it up properly and deliver the best game possible.
The release of the game will surely be the biggest gaming event of 2026 and while the fans were disappointed by the delay, the hype is not going away; in fact, it seems that everyone is talking about the game even more.
The optimisim about the game is there, and it’s not just the fans. Namely, Take-Two’s boss, Strauss Zelnick, recently talked about the impact that the game can have and he made a pretty bold statement.
Before we continue, here is a video:
The video is a short interview with Strauss Zelnick, who talked to CNBC about the upcoming game and he revealed some interesting details related to the impact the game could have when it comes out next year.
“The key thing is that Rockstar Games is trying to create the best thing anyone’s ever seen in entertainment, not just interactive entertainment. That’s a tall order, and I think consumers have huge hopes for the title,” he siad during the interview.
So, it’s not just the gaming industry, ladies and gentlement, it’s the whole industry as a whole. Sure, we already know that the release of GTA VI will be the biggest gaming event of 2026, there is no doubt about that, but to claim that the game is going to be the biggest event in the history of the entertainment industry as a whole is pretty bold.
And it’s not just that it’s impossible to compare the cultural impact of a video game to that of a book, movie or concert, but it’s also impossible to actually quantify said impact in any objective way.
“But the delay itself is really a reflection of desire to polish and create the best possible experience for consumers, and we as a company have been known not to have a sort of slavish devotion to release dates but rather to seek the highest quality entertainment,” he added.
And we don’t doubt that this is true. GTA VI has to succeed. Sure, it will sell well even if it’s not perfect, but the hype around the game is so big that it has to be perfect. It’s not just the numbers – it has to be the game. For everyone.
Sure, a lot of players will consider the game the best thing they’ve laid their eyes on, surpassing absolutely everything, but the guys behind the whole project really do want to make it the best possible project and we hope that they will!
