After years and years of waiting and wanting, Grand Theft Auto VI is finally coming in late 2025. And while there is no precise release date and delays are possible, we can finally live peacefully knowing that the game is, indeed, coming out.

And while we still know very little about the game, the hype is real and the fans are patiently waiting for some new information about the game since the release of the first official trailer.

It is certain that we will be getting more information about the game, but a former Rockstar dev has a very interesting point of view when it comes to teasers and pre-release content!

Former Rockstar technical director Obbe Vermeij, who was the technical director at Rockstar Games North between 1995 and 2009 (so he has insider knowledge, for sure), recently commented on the franchise and the upcoming game on social media. Here’s what he said:

The first post is a long dedication to GTA IV, one of the most successful games in the franchise, but his opinion related to GTA VI is even more interesting. “If it was my call I wouldn’t release any additional trailers. There is more than enough hype around VI and the element of surprise is going to make the release only bigger as an event,” he said in the social media post.

And while it is certain that GTA VI will be releasing more trailers in the upcoming months, Vermeij simply said that the franchise doesn’t need numerous trailers for its marketing to be successful.

GTA is, indeed, a gaming brand, and the hype is so real that we really do not, objectively, need additional trailers to make the game more popular. Having said this, we are looking forward to new trailers, especially those with more gameplay content, and we will welcome them immediately!
