Nintendo is getting ready for the next generation of gaming with the upcoming Switch 2, and it’s already starting to update many of its services and products. The latest change? A fresh new look for Nintendo eShop gift cards.

According to recent reports, Nintendo is giving its eShop cards a visual refresh. This means the design of the cards is changing to match the new generation of the Switch. The updated cards will feature new artwork, including refreshed images of fan-favorite characters.

One standout update is Donkey Kong, who now has a new look that’s being used on the eShop cards and also as his new system avatar. This update reflects Nintendo’s push to keep its characters fresh and in line with its new console launch.

Gaming news site Universo Nintendo shared some of the changes seen on the new cards. One major change is that the cards no longer say “Nintendo Switch console”. Instead, they just say “Nintendo eShop”.

This small change likely means Nintendo wants the cards to work across more systems and keep them future-proof for the Switch 2.

The new designs also come in various price options, just like the current cards. These cards are used to add credit to a Nintendo eShop account so players can buy games, DLC, and other digital items.

So far, the new cards have only been spotted in Brazil. The first images were shared online and show the before-and-after changes. However, it’s very likely that this new design will be used worldwide soon, as Nintendo usually updates its products globally.

Along with the card update, Donkey Kong’s new appearance has officially replaced his old avatar on the Nintendo Switch system. This update was part of a system refresh rolled out just yesterday. Nintendo seems to be giving several of its classic characters updated looks to match the Switch 2 era.
