AI-Generated Influencers With Down Syndrome Are Being Used to Sell Adult Content
A disturbing trend is emerging on Instagram, where artificial intelligence (AI) is being used to create fake influencers who appear to have Down syndrome. These accounts steal content from real people, modify it with AI, and then use the altered images to promote adult content.
A network of Instagram accounts is using AI to replace human faces with artificially generated ones. The goal is to make these AI influencers look like they have Down syndrome. These accounts often use the same bios, videos, and links to direct users to adult content platforms, where they make money from paid subscriptions.
This practice is part of a growing industry where people steal real content, modify it with AI, and then use social media to drive traffic to adult websites. Some individuals even offer online courses on how to create these fake influencers to make money through what they call “AI pimping.”
According to a report in recent months, AI-generated influencers have targeted specific audiences and fetishes. Some accounts have created AI-generated women with amputations, while others focus on different physical traits to attract viewers. The introduction of AI influencers mimicking people with Down syndrome represents a new low for this industry.
Many of these accounts post recycled content, using the same videos and captions repeatedly. While AI-generated faces can look convincing, small mistakes in facial features often reveal their artificial nature. Some accounts even use terms like “OnlyDown” to promote their content.
One of the most notable AI-generated influencers is @mariadopari, who has over 148,000 Instagram followers. The Instagram account has since been taken down but the Linktree profile is still up.
More platforms now allow people to make money from AI-generated content. This trend could grow and become a problem. People may start asking for stricter rules on social media and adult content sites.
