Chevrolet Blazer EV SS Breaks Records as Brand’s Fastest Super Sport Yet

Chevrolet has taken a bold step into the electric future with its most powerful SS model yet. The 2025 Blazer EV SS is now officially the quickest Super Sport vehicle Chevrolet has ever made. That’s right, this electric SUV can go from 0 to 60 mph (or 97 km/h) in just 3.4 seconds.
The SS badge has a long and proud history, going back to 1961 with the Impala SS. Over the years, cars like the Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, and Monte Carlo have all worn the badge. But none of those gas-powered classics were ever this quick off the line.
I had the chance to drive the Blazer EV SS near the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the instant burst of speed was thrilling. But it’s not just the speed that makes this electric SUV special. The handling, design, and features make it stand out even more.
This new SS model joins the Blazer EV lineup alongside the LT and RS trims. While the LT and RS offer both two-wheel and all-wheel drive options, the SS only comes with all-wheel drive. It also looks different, with unique touches like a black roof, bigger 22-inch wheels, sportier front and rear designs, and SS logos. Inside, it has sporty seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and more SS branding.
Performance is where the SS really shines. Its dual motors produce 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. That power is controlled using a system based on the one in the Corvette, but tuned for the SUV to help prevent understeer. Suspension upgrades like stiffer springs and special dampers improve how the vehicle handles on the road.
The Blazer EV SS uses GM’s Ultium battery platform and features a large 102 kWh battery pack. It can travel up to 488 kilometers (about 303 miles) on a full charge. That’s a little less than the front-wheel drive LT, but more than the all-wheel drive versions.
It also charges faster, taking in 126 kilometers (about 78 miles) of range in just 10 minutes with a 190 kW fast charger. It supports V2H (vehicle-to-home) charging, and Chevrolet offers a $310 adapter to use Tesla Superchargers.
What really makes the SS unique are its four exclusive drive modes. “WOW” (Wide Open Watts) gives the SUV an extra power boost and works with Launch Control to hit that fast 0–60 time. “Z” mode lets drivers adjust performance settings like steering and suspension. “Competitive” mode helps with cornering by shifting power to the outer wheels. And “Launch Control” is built just for full-throttle takeoffs — but only in WOW mode.
In short, the 2025 Blazer EV SS isn’t just another electric SUV. It’s a bold, fast, and fun Super Sport with modern electric power — and it just might change what people expect from performance vehicles.
