H.P. Lovecraft has been an inspiration for many authors in many ways. His stories have created a whole fictional universe, and that universe, along with his eerie style, is something that many wanted to replicate or honor in one way or another.

Various types of games, from board games to actual video games, have been made, inspired by Lovecraft’s work and a new video game is coming later this year.

As we have said, a new Lovecraftian game will be released later this year. Static Dread, as it is called, will be released this summer and an eerie trailer will show you just how scary it is going to be!

Before we continue, here is the trailer:

As you can see, the game has everything you’d expect from a Lovecraftian game, including Cthulhu, who is in the middle of his awakening in Static Dread. The game will be released on Steam on August 7, 2025.

In case you’re wondering about the game, it has been compared to No, I’m Not a Human and Papers, Please, but with Cthulhu’s awakening as the central plot element. So, expect a mix of Cthulhu and… bureaucracy? Sounds like fun!

Not much has been revealed about the game’s features in this new press release, but the trailer highlights some interesting gameplay elements, so you have a general idea of what to expect when the game comes out in August.
