Geralt's Voice Actor Has a Clear Message for All Those Complaining About Ciri as the Protagonist: "If you think it's woke, read the damn books."

The Witcher IV is still some time from coming out, but the game has already caused a major uproar among some fans. Namely, the game is going to change a lot, and while it will bring a new story and improved graphics, some fans are not satisfied.

Why? Well, it has been confirmed that Ciri will be taking over as the main character in the new game, and some fans have already started to trash the game, calling it “woke” because it is going to have a female protagonist.

In a recent video, Geralt’s voice actor Doug Cockle, talked about the upcoming game, and he has a very firm message for all the haters.

Like most people, Cockle is actually quite happy with the change and believes that having Ciri as the protagonist in the next game is a great move. “It’s a cool character from the Witcher, and they’re gonna focus on that character,” Cockle said. “I think that’s awesome. You can’t just have Geralt for every single game for The Witcher ad nauseam through eternity.”

“We’ve seen the end of Geralt’s journey. Blood and Wine was supposed to wrap up Geralt’s journey,” he also added.

He then commented on those who have an issue with Ciri as the main character. “Celebrate Ciri, I celebrate her being the protagonist. So all you people who think it’s ‘woke’ [blows raspberry]… If you read the books, then you understand why CD Projekt went down this avenue,” he said.

“There’s a whole rich world of stuff to explore with Ciri, that they didn’t do when they put her into Witcher 3, because the story was about Geralt. But she hints at it. If you think it’s woke, read the damn books – they’re good, first of all. And secondly, you won’t think it’s so woke anymore,” he concluded.

And Cockle makes a great point. This probably won’t shut up the haters, but it is a valid point and it is something that has to be taken into account.
