Best Buy is a multinational corporation that engages in the provision of consumer technology products and services. A lot of people shop at Best Buy and there is always the question of whether PayPal is accepted on Best Buy as a payment method.

Best Buy uses PayPal as one of its payment methods on both their website and app to purchase merchandise. However, you can’t use PayPal as a payment method in Best Buy stores.

Being able to use PayPal on the BestBuy.com website and the Best Buy app brings great convenience to a lot of people as PayPal is one of the most popularly accepted online payment platforms in the world. More information about how you can use PayPal on Best Buy as well as other payment methods that are accepted on Best Buy will be discussed below.

Does Best Buy accept PayPal?

PayPal is supported on BestBuy.com as I discussed earlier. You will be given the option of using a normal checkout or a PayPal checkout when you are ready to checkout on the Best Buy website. Should you decide to go for the “PayPal Checkout Box”, you’ll be redirected to the PayPal website where you can make your payment through your PayPal balance or credit card on file. After choosing how you want to be billed, you’ll be redirected back to the Best Buy website to complete the checkout process.

PayPal is also available as a payment method on the Best Buy app. Paypal will appear as a payment option when you are ready to checkout. However, you can’t use PayPal as a payment method at Best Buy stores. This means PayPal is accepted when you are shopping online on the Best Buy website or Best Buy app but not when you are shopping at Best Buy stores.

Using PayPal cards at Best Buy stores

You can always use your PayPal issued cards at Best Buy stores. PayPal now issues Mastercard-backed debit cards for both personal and business uses. The type of card that is issued to you depends on the account you have. PayPal even has a prepaid card for consumers that allows you to load your PayPal balance in set increments. All cards issued by PayPal are linked to your PayPal balance.

Personal users are eligible for Paypal cash cards and business accounts are issued PayPal Business Debit Mastercard. PayPal also offers two branded credit cards (the PayPal Cashback Mastercard and the PayPal Extras Mastercard). All these cards have different perks. You can use any PayPal issued card where a MasterCard is accepted. Since Best Buy stores accept MasterCard as a payment method, you can use your PayPal issued card to purchase merchandise at a PayPal store.

Using PayPal to pay in stores

You can choose how you pay on Paypal when you use the platform in stores. After activating in-store checkout, a prompt will appear giving you the option to choose your preferred payment method. After that, you’ll be prompted to choose a backup payment method. There are a number of payment method combinations on PayPal such as your PayPal balance, credit or debit cards, and your bank account. You can always change your payment preferences by navigating to settings and then selecting the “Payment Preferences” option. Scroll to your payment methods and then select “update”. After this, your in-store purchases will be paid for using the funds in your preferred payment method. If you don’t have enough money in your preferred payment method, then your backup payment method will be used instead.

You can always change your payment preference in the store. However. It’s advisable you change your payment preference ahead of time. Updating your preferences before you go to the store will help checkout go more quickly.
