‘Clair Obscure: Expedition 33’ Is Currently the Highest-Rated Game of 2025
Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 was released on April 24, 2025 and we don’t think anyone expected the game to become such a major hit in such a period of time. In just one day, this turn-based RPG swept the gaming world with tremendous force.
Many people are calling the game the best game of the year, but some are already calling it the best RPG of the decade, as well as one of the best games of all time. And we can agree that the game is truly something.
But whether or not you think the praises are unfounded or not, there is one undeniable fact that indeed confirms that Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 is one of the best games we’ve seen in a while.
Namely, the game is just out, but we’ve already received the first ratings for the game. OpenCritic gave it a 97% rating with a recommendation, but the numbers we are talking about come from Metacritic, one of the most reliable review hubs online.
The PC version received a 90 rating, the PS5 version a 92 rating and the Xbox version received a 93 rating. Out of a hundred, of course. With these numbers, Metacritic currently lists Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 at 92/100, which means universal acclaim. But it’s not stopping there!
Alongside the “Must Play” label given to the game, we can confirm that Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 is currently the highest-rated game of 2025, which means that it is, in fact, the best game of 2025 so far.
The game managed to beat out some major titles like Monster Hunter Wilds, Split Fiction, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Kingdom Come II: Deliverance, which is an enomrous success for a game that wasn’t really poised to become such a major hit.
