Big Studios Are Not Fighting Fake AI YouTube Trailers, They're Earning Money

You’ve probably seen the trailer for Titanic 2 where Jack returns, the Squid Game Season 3 trailer with Leonardo DiCaprio, new trailers for the Superman movie, and so on… but while some people will believe these trailers, what unites them is that they are all – fake.

And while some AI fake trailers are really good – it’s difficult to notice that they’re AI-created – the fact that they don’t have to do anything with the actual work(s) still remains. But, how are the studios reacting to it?

Well, interestingly enough, you’d think that the studios would battle these videos, right? Have them removed over copyright infringement and so on? It seems like the natural thing to do, but the situation is very different!

AI is growing and it’s becoming more present in our daily lives. And while some will think that even this text was written by AI, it wasn’t. But sometimes, it is really difficult to tell. And while fake AI videos had been easy to spot not that long ago, it is becoming more difficult to notice the differences.

Some of the fake trailers we mentioned above – and there are many more, believe us – were really good, and as a recent report confirms, many people (especially if they’re older), actually believed this. When you don’t have all the information, you’re more prone to being tricked – that’s a general rule.

And while studios should, from a logical standpoint, fight these videos, they have – as the report confirms – decided to do the opposite. Instead of having them removed due to copyright infringement, they are sucking money from them.

And while these videos probably don’t generate as much revenue as official trailers, people are easily fooled, and when they are fooled, they can generate money. This a relatively easy and painless way for major studio to earn some extra bucks, but it is debatable how moral that is and how responsible it is towards the fans and the consumers.
