Saber Interactive Confirms ‘Knights of the Old Republic’ Remake Is Still in Development

Saber Interactive recently surprised fans with the announcement of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3. While the news excited many, some gamers expressed concerns about the status of other previously announced projects from the studio. However, Saber’s Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits has reassured fans that all their announced titles are still in active development.
In response to concerns, Willits took to Twitter to confirm that none of the games Saber has announced in recent years have been scrapped.
“Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world,” Willits stated. “We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share.”
This message was meant to reassure fans who were worried that projects like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR), Avatar: The Last Airbender, Jurassic Park, and Turok might have been quietly canceled. Despite the studio’s growing list of games, Saber has not abandoned any of them.
Among the most highly anticipated games from Saber Interactive is the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The game has been in development for several years, with Saber fully taking over in 2022.
Since then, little to no updates have been given on the project, leaving fans wondering about its status. However, Saber has now confirmed that the game is still in development, though no release window has been shared. While it could still be years before KOTOR makes its way to players, fans can take comfort in knowing that it has not been canceled.
Saber Interactive has a packed schedule, with multiple games in the works. The next title set to launch from the studio is John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, a co-op first-person shooter inspired by classic 1980s action films. The game is scheduled for release later this year and will be the only Saber Interactive title confirmed for a 2025 launch so far.
Additionally, Saber remains committed to supporting past releases like World War Z and Space Marine 2, ensuring that players continue to receive updates and new content.
With so many projects in development, it may take time before fans get updates on highly anticipated titles like KOTOR. However, Saber Interactive remains committed to delivering all the games they have promised. For now, fans will have to stay patient and wait for the studio to share new details when they are ready.
