Ubisoft Reassures Fans that ‘Sands of Time’ Remake is Still “Being Crafted,” Despite a Lack of Updates
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was released in 2003 and it became one of the most popular platformers at the time, relaunching the original series in a proper way and creating a new timeline for the franchise.
The games that followed were extremely successful, but as you probably know, Ubisoft is planning a return to the roots with a remake of The Sands of Time, something that the fans are eagerly waiting for.
And while the remake was announced a while ago, updates on the development are scarce, which has seen some of the fans worried. Recently, though, Ubisoft decided to break the silence and provided the fans with a reassuring update.
You might remember that the remake was announced back in 2020 for a 2021 release, but had since been delayed indefinitely, reannounced and is now scheduled for a 2026 release, as of late last year.
Still, the game won’t be shown at this year’s Summer Game Fest, and when this is combined with a general lack of updates on the game’s progress, some fans became worried that the game would see another delay or even a potential cancellation.
But, after a long period of silence, Ubisoft has decided to share some information and the developer has reassured fans that the game is still in development:
Yep, we’re still deep in the game — exploring, building, and ensuring the sands move with purpose. 🗡️⏳

There isn’t any precise information here, but the message does sound reassuring. We have no precise information to share, but if you’ve been worried about the game, we can reaffirm that it is still on track for a 2026 release.
