TikTok Under Intense Scrutiny After New Report Reveals Disturbing AI Trend
A recent investigation has placed TikTok back in the regulatory spotlight following the discovery of a shocking pattern of abuse involving artificial intelligence. The study uncovered a proliferation of AI-generated videos depicting young girls in provocative clothing, such as swimwear and school uniforms.
Despite strict community guidelines prohibiting this type of content, these uploads have garnered significant engagement. The report indicates that such videos have accumulated millions of likes and shares across the platform.
The research was conducted by the Spanish fact-checking organization Maldita, which identified over 20 specific accounts driving this trend. Collectively, these profiles had posted more than 5,200 videos and amassed a following of over 550,000 users.
The investigation revealed an even darker reality lurking in the comment sections of these viral posts. Researchers found numerous links directing viewers to external communities on Telegram where child sexual abuse material is illegally sold.
Maldita confirmed that they have flagged at least 12 of these dangerous groups to the Spanish police for immediate action. The findings suggest that the AI-generated content on TikTok serves as a gateway to connect predators with illegal markets.
Furthermore, the report highlights that these bad actors are monetizing their activities through TikTok’s own subscription services. Because the platform typically keeps a percentage of subscription revenue, it inadvertently profits from the circulation of this harmful material.
This news breaks as legislators in Australia, Denmark, and the European Union actively discuss banning or restricting social media access for children under 16. These findings will likely fuel further calls for stringent age verification and safety measures to protect minors online.
