Harry Style’s 2022 song As It Was has taken the lead in the list of most streamed songs worldwide. Yes, it’s the song that is on many Instagram reels and Tik Toks. The song was streamed over 1.5 billion times. The second rank went to Heat Waves by Glass Animals. This song released in 2020 is still doing well on Spotify.  Since its release, Heat Waves has got around 2 billion streams. 

STAY (with Justin Bieber) by The Kid LAROI took the third rank in the global list. It also became the fastest song to hit 2 billion streams in Spotify history. Me Porto Bonito and Tití Me Preguntó by Bad Bunny took fourth and fifth rank respectively.

Un Verano Sin Ti by Bad Bunny stood at the top position in Spotify Wrapped most streamed albums globally. Songs from this album, two of which are also in the top streamed songs, have 18.5 billion streams overall.  Harry Style’s album Harry’s House came in second place globally and first place in the UK. The song As it Was from Harry’s House is also in the top five most streamed songs in 2022. 

With 7.5 billion streams, Olivia Rodrigo’s album Sour ranked third. Equals by Ed Sheeran, released in 2021, ranked fourth. Doja Cat’s album Planet Her came in fifth place with 5.4 billion streams.

Most Streamed Podcasts Globally

The highly controversial podcast by Joe Rogan, The Joe Rogan Experience was most streamed globally. His podcasts received backlash and protests after his use of racial slurs and remarks on COVID-19 and vaccines. His deal with Spotify is worth $200 million. Call her Daddy podcast by Alex Cooper stood at second rank. 

Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain came in the third spot with amazing storytelling skills. In fourth place came Caso 63, a psychological thriller podcast originally from Chile. This podcast was dubbed into many languages. A true-crime podcast, Crime Junkie, came in the fifth spot globally.

One key feature from the data released by Spotify is that people globally were feeling nostalgic in 2022. So many songs and albums from the past years did well on the charts. One of the examples is Eminem’s album, The Marshall Mathers LP, which was the most streamed throwback album. This was released in the year 2000. Kate Bush’s song Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) was the top-streamed throwback song. 

The song was originally released in 1985 and went viral after being featured in the fourth season of Stranger Things (2022). According to Spotify, the streams of this song went up by a whopping 8700% in the spring of 2022. Coldplay, Nirvana, Eminem, and Coolio also had songs in top streams.
