Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is an upcoming action-adventure game from Naughty Dog, coming to PlayStation 5. It follows Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter played by Tati Gabrielle, who gets stranded on a mysterious planet called Sempiria while chasing a dangerous crime syndicate.

Directed by Neil Druckmann, Matthew Gallant, and Kurt Margenau, with music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, this game promises an intense and emotional adventure.

We still have no idea when the game will be released, but luckily during the latest episode of the Creator to Creator podcast, Neil Druckmann revealed some new information regarding the game’s setting, themes, and what kind of world we can expect from the game.

Druckman shared that the game takes place in the year 2000, but in a different version of history where things changed a lot after the 1980s.

A new religion was created because of these changes, and over time, many different versions of it appeared. This religion started on Planet Sempiria, a mysterious place that has been cut off from the rest of the universe for 600 years. No one has been able to get in or out, and nobody knows what happened to the people who lived there.

The main character, Jordan, is a bounty hunter who crash-lands on Sempiria. She is completely alone, with no friends or companions to help her. The game focuses on loneliness and isolation, making players think about what it means to be lost—both physically and emotionally.

Jordan’s goal is to escape the planet but to do that, she must explore its secrets and uncover the truth about what happened there. The game will challenge players to reflect on faith, destiny, and how things turned out the way they did.

Naughty Dog started working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in 2020, after finishing The Last of Us Part II. Over 250 people worked on the game.

Druckmann first talked about the game at Summer Game Fest 2022, saying he was building a writing team that worked more like a TV show. In February 2024, Sony trademarked the game’s title.

Intergalactic is the start of a new franchise for Naughty Dog, their first new story since The Last of Us (2013).
