Formula 1 fans in Tokyo got a big surprise this week. Red Bull Racing and Honda held a special event before the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix. The highlight? Max Verstappen drove Honda’s new electric SUV prototype through the city streets.

The new car is called the Honda 0 SUV. It’s part of Honda’s new electric 0 Series. This is the first time we’ve seen the SUV driving in public. Max Verstappen and his teammate Yuki Tsunoda took it for a cruise through Tokyo’s Aoyama business district, right between runs in their powerful Red Bull F1 cars.

The prototype was first shown at CES 2025. It’s a mid-size electric SUV that will go into production in 2026 at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, USA. Honda says this SUV will have advanced features like Level 3 self-driving and a new system called ASIMO OS. A cool-looking electric car called the 0 Saloon will also join the lineup later in 2026.

During the Tokyo drive, Max and Yuki looked relaxed and happy in the quiet electric car, even sipping cans of Red Bull while laughing. It was a fun break from the loud F1 engines!

This event also marked the end of the Red Bull and Honda partnership in F1, so it was a special way to celebrate. Fans loved seeing both the past and the future of Honda racing, fast F1 cars and clean electric power.
