Humanoid Robot Attacks Workers in China: Social Media Fears a Robot Takeover
A shocking video of a humanoid robot going wild at a testing facility in China has gone viral, sparking fears about a possible robot takeover. Many people online are comparing the incident to scenes from movies like Terminator and RoboCop.
The footage shows a humanoid robot that suddenly malfunctions and becomes aggressive. The robot, identified as the Unitree H1 (Full-Size Universal Humanoid Robot), was in a testing phase when the problem occurred.
Two engineers were observing the machine when it unexpectedly started thrashing around. The robot’s arms and legs moved violently, knocking over equipment and nearly injuring the workers.
The video, posted on X, shows the robot hanging from a construction crane in the factory. The engineers were standing close by, cautiously watching the machine’s movements. Suddenly, the robot began to flail uncontrollably.
One of the engineers quickly tried to control the situation by dragging the robot’s stand back into position.
Sources say that the robot was experiencing a coding error, which led to the aggressive outburst. Unitree Robotics, the China-based company behind the Unitree H1, has been working on developing humanoid robots that can operate smoothly in human environments. The Unitree H1 model seen in the video reportedly costs around 650,000 yuan.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and reliability of advanced robots. Social media users were quick to react, sharing their fears about robots becoming dangerous. Many people referenced movies about robot uprisings, like Terminator, and expressed worries about the growing presence of robots in everyday life.
This isn’t the only recent scare involving humanoid robots. Another incident took place during a Lunar Festival in China. A performing robot suddenly lunged toward a crowd, causing panic.
The robot was behind a safety barricade, but the sudden movement shocked the spectators. The cause of this malfunction is still unknown.
These events are happening as humanoid robots become more advanced and integrated into daily life. For example, the Pudu Robotics D9 can walk faster than humans, navigate stairs, and maintain balance even when pushed. There’s also the “Protoclone” from Clone Robotics, designed for tasks like cooking and talking, making it look eerily human.
Many people online are starting to question whether these machines are safe to be around humans. The idea of robots becoming more independent and unpredictable is making some feel uneasy. While these machines are designed to help us, some see them as a possible threat.
As technology continues to evolve, the debate over the role of robots in society is likely to grow. For now, incidents like the one in China remind us that even the most advanced robots can still malfunction, sometimes in dangerous ways.
