Split Fiction came out on March 6, 2025 and while the game was welcomed with a lot of insecurity, it seems that it is becoming a global hit, if the numbers for its first weekend are to be considered. The multiplatform co-op game is seemingly on its way to become one of EA’s best releases!

BAsed on the information provided, the game peaked at 259,003 concurrent players on Steam on Sunday, March 9, which is a number to behold! And while it is still nowhere near Apex Legends, the game surpassed both FIFA and Battlefield, which is an exceptional thing!

So, based on the numbers we have, the top five EA games on Steam ranked by peak concurrent players are:

  1. Apex Legends – 624,473
  2. Split Fiction – 259,003
  3. Battlefield V – 116,104
  4. EA Sports FIFA 23 – 110,878
  5. EA Sports FC 25 – 110,026

Based on everything we know about the game, as well as EA’s relationship with Steam, this is a massive success. The devs’ previous game, It Takes Two, peaked at a little over 71,000 players, so having almost 260,000 players is amazing.

Of course, Split Fiction is a much bigger and more ambitious game than the previous one, so it doesn’t surprise us that the involvement is significantly bigger. We’ll see whether the game can retain its popularity down the road.
