Ubisoft has announced a new plan to reduce costs by over $110 million in the next two years. The company shared the news in its latest earnings report for the 2024-25 financial year.

Ubisoft has already surpassed its initial cost reduction goal of €200 million (about $224 million). Now, the company is planning to cut another €100 million (more than $110 million) in the next two years. To achieve this, Ubisoft has been shutting down studios and laying off employees, and it seems more cuts might be on the way.

The earnings report also mentioned some positive news. The new game, ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’, received strong praise from players and performed better than ‘Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’. Ubisoft reported net bookings of €1.85 billion, which was slightly lower than expected.

The company shared that ‘Assassin’s Creed’ and ‘Rainbow Six’ had around 30 million active players for the fourth year in a row. The ‘Far Cry’ franchise also brought in 20 million players, while other brands had over 100 million active players in the 2024-25 financial year.

In addition to cost reduction, Ubisoft has delayed some of its big titles to make sure they meet quality standards. The company also mentioned looking into claims about secret data collection, but no details were given.

Ubisoft’s cost-cutting measures and game updates show the company is working to stay competitive while maintaining quality. It remains to be seen how the next two years will unfold for the gaming giant.
