The United States Believe China Is Working on Genetically-Ehnanced, AI-Powered Super Soldiers

The concept of so-called “super soldiers” is not a new one; in fact, it has been a sci-fi trope for some time now. A “super soldier” would be one whose abilities are enhanced beyond peak human abilities through the use of science and technology.
Sometimes it’s the use of a special drug or compound, at other times it is the integration of mechanical and/or robotic parts into the human body, but there are also stories that use other methods, like mind control or even AI.
And while this has been a fictional trope, now, the US National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology believes that it might become reality sooner than we think in China.
Based on a recently published report, the United States firmly believes that China is pushing for the “development” of these super soldiers through its Military-Civil Fusion doctrine, which aims to integrate civilian and military life in the firmest way possible.
The report considers that certain growths in the Chinese industry are aimed at creating these super soldiers, especially in the field of technology and genetics. Some companies, according to the report, have grown opaquely in recent years, and the authors believe that the whole point is to build the technological framework for the creation of super soldiers, which explains the secrecy.
These would be enhanced via genetic engineering, technology, and AI, and they would represent the next step in the evolution of combat tactics. Now, drone warfare is the thing to look out for, but it is believed that super soldiers are the next, upcoming thing.
As for China’s approach, the report states that China plans on speeding up the process through acquiring intellectual properties, state financing and the control of supply chains, to which the U.S. should respond by speeding up its own capabilities, as well as slowing down China’s through limiting their access to certain tech, for example.
At this point, there has been no official reaction to this report, and it still seems like science fiction, but the reaction of U.S. policy makers will determine how this report is going to be perceived on a general level.
