‘The Day Before’ Developer Sues Website Over Scam Claims

The developers of The Day Before, a video game that disappointed many players, are taking legal action. The studio, Fntastic, is suing a Russian news website, Yakutia.info, for calling the game a “scam.” The company claims that this statement harmed its reputation.
According to reports from PC Gamer, Fntastic has filed a lawsuit against Yakutia.info. Both the game studio and the news website originally came from Yakutia, Russia. However, Fntastic later moved to Kazakhstan.
The legal case is based on two articles. One article directly called the game’s development a “scam,” while the other repeated claims from YouTube influencers who said The Day Before copied ideas from other games.
Yakutia.info has responded by saying that the word “scam” is new in the Russian language. After learning about the lawsuit, the website changed the word to “embarrassment.” It also updated the second article to use direct quotes instead of paraphrasing.
Despite these changes, Yakutia.info refuses to remove the articles. The website argues that doing so would limit free speech. It also believes it was unfairly targeted, as many other news outlets made similar claims about the game. The site is prepared to fight the case in court.
The Day Before was supposed to be a big online survival game. Many people were excited about it, but when it was finally released, it was nothing like what was promised. Players complained about missing features, poor gameplay, and misleading trailers. Because of this, some critics and gamers have accused the developers of being dishonest.
Now, Fntastic is trying to defend itself by taking legal action. Whether the lawsuit will succeed or not remains to be seen.
Before release, Fntastic said The Day Before would be an open-world survival MMO, similar to The Division. It was supposed to have a big, detailed world, realistic survival mechanics, and exciting multiplayer action. But when the game launched, it was nothing like that.
Instead of an MMO, players got a basic extraction shooter. The game had no deep survival mechanics, no large-scale MMO features, and barely any content. Players just run around, collect loot, and try to escape. It felt like a completely different game from what was advertised.
The trailers for The Day Before made the game look amazing. The graphics were great, the world looked alive, and the action seemed intense. But when players actually played the game, it looked far worse. The city felt empty, there were very few zombies, and the game was full of bugs. It was clear that the trailers did not show the real game.
