Leaked First Look at Respawn & Bit Reactor’s Star Wars Turn-Based Strategy Game
Images from an upcoming Star Wars turn-based tactics game by Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor have leaked online. The game is expected to be officially revealed at Star Wars Celebration in April.
he leaked images show gameplay similar to XCOM, a popular turn-based strategy game. This makes sense because many of the developers at Bit Reactor previously worked on XCOM.
A news outlet MP1st found the images in an artist’s portfolio from Bit Reactor. The images come from a version of the game from mid-2023, when it was called “Bruno” internally.
The screenshots reveal a player controlling a Mandalorian character aiming at a Republic clone trooper. A hit chance of 95% is displayed, just like in XCOM. The player has different combat options, including using a thermal detonator, which is the Star Wars version of a grenade. Another image shows the overwatch ability, which allows a character to wait and shoot at an enemy when they move.
A separate image shows the game’s headquarters system. Players can interact with an Armory, Holotable, Special Ops, and a Black Market.
Respawn Entertainment, the team behind the Jedi series, is working with Bit Reactor on this new project. Previously, Respawn was making a Mandalorian bounty hunter shooter, but that game was canceled in February 2024.
