Huawei Mate X7 Lands in Europe as a Rival to Galaxy Z Fold 7
Fresh off its debut in China, the Huawei Mate X7 has officially reached the European market with a price tag of €2,099. Tech enthusiasts familiar with the brand will immediately spot this device as a direct challenger to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. While it brings impressive hardware to the table, it still faces the familiar hurdle of lacking Google Mobile Services.
The new foldable is designed to be more ergonomic than its predecessor, weighing in at 236 grams. Durability has also seen a significant upgrade, with the device boasting both IP58 and IP59 certifications for water and dust resistance. This makes it a more rugged option for daily use compared to previous generations.
In terms of display, the Mate X7 offers slightly larger screens with high-end specifications. The external display measures 6.49 inches, while the main foldable screen opens up to a spacious 8 inches. Both panels utilize LTPO OLED technology, allowing for a variable refresh rate that shifts between 1 Hz and 120 Hz to optimize battery life.
Under the hood, the global version of the smartphone is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset. It comes equipped with a substantial 5,300 mAh battery, which is slightly smaller than the Chinese variant but supports fast 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Photography remains a strong point for Huawei, with a versatile triple-camera setup on the back. The array includes a 50 MP main sensor with a variable aperture, a 40 MP ultra-wide lens, and a new 50 MP periscope telephoto camera capable of 3.5x optical zoom.
With a high premium price and powerful specs, the big question remains whether users are willing to overlook the absence of the Play Store. Let us know if you would consider switching to this new Huawei foldable in the comments.
